See? Not everything sucks.

If it were still sunny out, that headline might've read: "Good News All Around!" But, eh.

There is good news though - apparently the disco ball heard two of my recent rants, and it has reflected some egalitarian goodness from its shiny mirrors! The suspension of three students for using the word "vagina" at a high school poetry event has been rescinded, and the FDA is going to fully fund the Office of Women's Health.

Also, I actually got a disco ball last week as a result of thanking the disco ball. This really nice woman who was moving gave me a couple boxes of free stuff (including many back issues of Bust and Bitch, as well as a Thai cookbook, yay), and threw in the ball and motor after reading my heretical email. And my sister just got an awesome fellowship for her first year of grad school...and, uh, she got into grad school. Plus, I seem to have a job, through very little actual effort on my part, which is kind of cool. Makes a bad lesson for the kiddies, though: Procrastinate as much as you want! Eventually your old boss will decide to hire you on the basis of an off-the-cuff conversation. Wooo.

The vagina piece is a bit extreme. It's such an arbitrary world.

Extreme how? The censorship was extremely juvenile? Or my reaction to it was stronger than you think is appropriate?
